Brook has over 20 years of combined public accounting and consulting experience as well as experience in a large corporate HR department, with the last 16 years focused entirely on employee benefit plans, both from the corporate and auditor perspective. She began her career with Arthur Andersen performing audits primarily of large public clients. Following Arthur Andersen she went into the private sector for a large cable company as a manager of benefits finance, where she was responsible for administration and audit support of the 401(k), pension, life and health plans. When she went back into the public accounting world, she was a manager and later director of benefit plan audits. Her years spent in the private sector helped her realize what it feels like to be the client, and this has helped her to provide a higher level of client service. She specializes in qualified and welfare benefit plans, including defined contribution and defined benefit plans, as well as voluntary employee beneficiary associations (VEBAs). Brook has also had the opportunity to lead training sessions on both the local and national level on all aspects of benefit plan auditing and benefit plan compliance, with a primary focus on health and welfare auditing and issues specific to this type of plan.
Brook provides consulting on both accounting and compliance matters relating to plans, including plan financial statement preparation, audit assistance, RFP's, compliance reviews, dependent eligibility audits, health claims audits and assistance in calculating Plan corrections and filing the necessary documentation to comply with the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service correction programs.
Brook received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an accounting emphasis, from Colorado State University. Brook is a Certified Public Accountant and her professional affiliations have included membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), and the Western Pension & Benefits Conference (WP&BC). She has also served as a board member for the Denver Chapter of WP&BC.
